The showy, oddly shaped Birds of Paradise blossom resembles a bird in flight and is one of the few flowers actually pollinated by birds' feet. The name Heliconia honors Mt. Heliconia, home of the ancient Greek gods. There are between 250-400 species or more, with 98 percent native to tropical America. The supporting cast in this spectacular bouquet consists of Hawaiian Tri-color Hala leaves and tea leaves.
